A Gridfinity baseplate sized to your drawer

This tool generates a Gridfinity floor plate with the number of cells you need and exports it as an STL. Choose the cells in X and Y, pick a style, and the plate is built in your browser without an account.

Gridfinity is an open standard based on 42 mm square cells. The plate lies in the drawer and each bin drops into a cell pocket, so nothing slides around, yet bins lift out whenever you want.

Free, no sign-up. Change the sizes in millimetres and download the STL.

Ready-made variants

Each variant is the same template with different settings. Follow the link and the editor opens with those values.

Adjustable sizes

These values are edited in the editor's template panel. A number outside the range is clamped to the nearest limit automatically.

What it is used for

  • Screws, nuts and bit sets in a workshop drawer
  • Pens, cables and adapters in a desk drawer
  • Modules and connectors in an electronics cabinet
  • Spices and small containers in a kitchen drawer
  • Paints, brushes and tools on a hobby desk

Printing tips

Orientation
Print with the flat bottom on the bed. The cell pockets open upward, so no face overhangs more than 45°.
Layer height
0.2 mm layers are fine; 0.16 mm gives slightly smoother chamfers.
Infill
15% infill and 2 perimeters are enough; use 20% for the solid floor of the magnet and screw styles.
Supports
No supports needed.
Material
PLA works for drawers. Choose PETG for a hot car or a sunny workshop shelf.

Tips

  • The default 5x5 plate is 210 mm and fits a 220 mm bed. Cut larger plates into parts with the Split tool.
  • Leave the frame at 0 if plates will sit side by side; a frame shifts the 42 mm pitch.
  • When pressing in magnets, keep the same pole facing up in every cell.

Dimensions and compatibility

The cell pitch is 42 mm. From the bottom up, the pocket profile is a 0.7 mm chamfer, a 1.8 mm straight wall and a 2.15 mm chamfer, with 0.35 mm of clearance below, for a total height of 5 mm. The outer corner radius is 4 mm. These are the standard values from the MIT licensed Gridfinity Rebuilt project, so bins from other makers fit too.

  • Bin bases sit in the pocket with 0.25 mm clearance on every side
  • Magnet pockets are Ø6.5 x 2.4 mm, 13 mm from the cell centre
  • Screw holes are Ø3.5 mm with a Ø7 mm countersink

Which style to choose

The plain style prints fastest and has an open bottom that rests directly on the drawer. The magnet and screw styles add a 3.4 mm solid floor, which makes the plate 8.4 mm tall. If your bins also carry magnets, they stay put when the drawer slams.

Frequently asked questions

My drawer is not a multiple of 42 mm. What now?

Pick the largest cell count that fits and fill the gap with the frame, which is added equally on all four sides.

Will Gridfinity bins from other sites fit?

Yes. The pocket profile uses the standard dimensions and leaves 0.25 mm of clearance around the bin on each side.

The plate is too big for my printer. How do I split it?

Use the Split tool in the editor and cut along a cell boundary. When the pieces sit side by side, the cell pitch stays correct.
